The rental car industry is expected to grow over the next decade. Economists have forecasted a positive outlook for the rental car industry. I wonder how the current recession will affect the outlook.
I suppose you could argue that since most people cannot afford to purchase a car in major metro areas they may opt to rent cars more often. But then again, aren't travelers the ones responsible for the majority of car rentals in the US, or anywhere else in the world for that matter?
I can see how people who live in areas like New York City or Washington DC would opt to live without a car and only rent one when they need one for trips or other special occassions. But what about people in other parts of the country, say like Florida. Living without a car in cities like Orlando, FL is almost impossible.
